VST plug-ins running in Pro Tools, thanks to FXpansion's adaptor. As the name suggests, FXpansion's utility allows VST effects and Instruments to be used in Pro Tools, but how well does it really work? Both Pro Tools LE and TDM systems use Digidesign's proprietary RTAS (Real-Time Audiosuite) format for host-based plug-ins. 3 FXpansion VST to RTAS Adapter v2.0 2 Installation VST-RTAS Adapter v is designed especially for Pro Tools 7 or higher. If you’re using Pro Tools v6.x, you’ll need to use v1.06 of the adapter. Note for Pro Tools 6.x users:-VST to RTAS Adapter v2.0 is compatible with Pro Tools 7 and above only. Users of Pro Tools 6.x can download the previous version (v1.06), compatible with Pro Tools 6.x, simply by registering their v2.0 serial number at the FXpansion site.

Re 'FREE' : I've included free software, 'donateware' (and marked it as such), and also software that requires you to purchase particular magazines, just because I think it's useful stuff. I haven't included shareware or $$$ware.

GENERIC INTERFACES - FX/INSTRUMENTS
These FX are identifiable by their generic style interface, - such as this one for Greenoak's Excitifier :
STILL A PROBLEM IN THIS CATEGORY :
* You cannot do real-time automation of any knobs or faders with these plugs.
* Knobs CAN be automated by drawn track automation.
You can hear the difference, but the knobs do not move visually.
Note : they DID move visually in v1.01 of the wrapper with drawn automation. Something you did in the coding to fix the 1.01-1.02 problems (when couldn’t move knobs or change between existing presets) removed this functionality.
* If you change between existing factory presets, the knobs do not move to their new positions until you click one of them. (e.g. mda Leslie)
